Fabric Care Tips From WOOLITE

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

TIP #1

INSIDE OUT

Wash all of your clothes inside out to protect the fibers against damage from the washing machine drum or from e.g. zippers in other clothes

TIP #2

RINSE OUT YOUR DETERGENT RECEPTACLE

Rinse out your washing soap receptacle often so that you remove all excess washing soap and fabric softener

TIP #3

CLEAN THE WASHING MACHINE

Just like other machines that are used often, washing machines need to be cleaned to remove e.g. chlorine, dirt and smells. Your washing machine’s handbook contains cleaning instructions that will tell you how to best clean the machine. Most manufacturers recommend running the machine empty at a high temperature (60 or even 90 degrees). Naturally, a clean machine will help provide the best washing results with Woolite®.

TIP #4

FILL THE MACHINE

Most modern washing machines produce effective results even when they are completely full. Therefore, you should fill the machine completely instead of running it half full.

TIPS #5

ENERGY MARKING

When you buy a new washing machine, look for the one that is best for the environment (energy and water consumption).

TIP #6

COTTON

Cotton can be machine washed using Woolite® COMPLETE™, Woolite® EXTRA Color Care and Woolite® EXTRA Dark Care so no fabric damage will be caused, like shape loss, fading and color run.

TIP #7

DRY CLOTHES PER LABEL INSTRUCTIONS

Follow label instructions for drying your clothes. Some fabrics require that you tumble dry them in low heat, or that you don’t tumble dry them at all.

TIP #8

WASH AT LOW TEMPERATURES

Woolite® recommends that you save energy and water by washing at low temperatures.

Laundry While Traveling? Here’s Why!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

I’m a big traveler.  In fact if I could take a few years off and travel the planet I’d do it in a heartbeat.  Because of my hobby I’ve had to learn to pack light however, that’s not the only packing lesson I’ve had to learn.  It’s difficult to bring a clean outfit for each day of the vacation especially when you’re on a two or three week trip.  I’ve learned I must do laundry while traveling.  I know, you’re thinking I’m on vacation I’m not doing laundry.  However all too often bringing loads of clothing is a rookie mistake.  Imagine this, you’re holding fourteen bags and walking up three flights of stairs and then you see the guy with his single backpack.  After saying something under your breath you wish you hadn’t brought so much.  So, if you decide less is more here are the basics you’ll need for doing laundry while traveling.

1.  For my washables I purchase the one time use laundry soap packets such as Woolite® Liquid Cold Wash.  Woolite ® is my choice because you can wash anything from cotton T-shirts to fine silks and it’s more affordable than buying soap from the Laundromat.   Also, it’s important to bring a sink plug and laundry line so you don’t have to depend on the hotel/motel/cabin to have one.

 2. For the items that are clean yet wrinkled I bring a few Woolite® Dry Cleaner’s Secret® cleaning cloths.  Find a local Laundromat or use the hotel machines.  It’s a two-in-one deal because while I’m de-wrinkling my outfit I’m also freshening it up!   This is also perfect for those that travel for work too!

3.  Bringing a sewing kit like the Singer Classic Sewing Kit from Create For Less  is also recommended for buttons or seam tears.

4. Lastly, I always bring extra Ziploc bags for laundry that hasn’t completely dried and/or dirty shoes.

Until next time…

WOOLITE® For All Darks Detergent. Goths and professionals rejoice!

Monday, October 5th, 2009

No more cold-water cycle, no more inside-out, no more hand-washing your dark clothes. Next time you peruse the detergent aisle at the grocery store look for the black Woolite bottle with the pink cap: WOOLITE® For All Darks Detergent.

Wow, how I love this stuff! Before WOOLITE All Darks Detergent, I found myself reluctant to wear black shirts or other dark clothing because I always considered the extra effort I would need to put in to washing them. Now my hamper for my dark clothes goes right into the washing machine just like the rest of my laundry.

So, will I give WOOLITE the credit for me cleaning up my act and dressing more like a professional? Not all of the credit. I can’t forget to give a shout-out to my mom and grandmother for their daily criticisms of my wardrobe. I love you guys.
